Welcome Regional Commissioner

Alhambra Region 60 families,

WELCOME to our 2018 fall soccer season. My name is Ricardo Quinones and I am the new Regional Commissioner for this incredible region. I want to share with you our vision and mission statements, which guide everything that we do for our children in the program.

AYSO Vision Statement:
To provide world class youth soccer programs that enrich children’s lives.

AYSO Mission Statement:
American Youth Soccer Organization’s mission is to develop quality youth soccer programs which promote a fun, family environment based on the following AYSO philosophies…

Everyone Plays - Our Region’s goal is for Kids to play soccer, so we mandate that every child on every team must play at least half of every game. In our region it is ¾ for divisions in 6U-14U.

Balanced Teams - Each year we form teams as evenly as possible, because it is fair and more fun when teams of equal ability play.

Open Registration - Our program is open to all children between the ages of 4 and 18 who want to register and play soccer. Interest and enthusiasm are the only criteria for playing.

Positive Coaching - Encouragement of player effort provides for greater enjoyment by the players and ultimately leads to better skilled and better motivated players.

Good Sportsmanship - We strive to create a safe, fair, fun and positive environment based on mutual respect, rather than a win at all costs attitude, and our program is designed to instill good sportsmanship in every facet of AYSO.

Player Development - We believe that all players should be able to develop their soccer skills and knowledge to the best of their abilities, both individually and as members of a team, in order to maximize their enjoyment of the game.

In order to fulfill our vision and mission, we need volunteers in all areas of our program, I am asking all of you to take a leap of faith and step forward and join our team of volunteers. We are fortunate that we have volunteers that are as young as 12 years old and older helping in many areas like PRO referees, VIP Buddies, etc. Like a parent said to me recently, “I want my son to give back to the region since we have been so lucky to have received so much in the last years”.

Our regional board members are committed to ensure that we have a fun and exciting season. Their dedication is apparent since they have spent countless hours preparing for this day. Our team will be out at the fields so that you can ask questions.

Lastly, I want all of us to focus on three things, Let the coaches, Coach, players Play, and parents/fans/relatives Cheer.

Yours truly,

Ricardo Quinones,

Regional Commissioner
