EXTRA TRYOUT

EXTRA Tryout Information

All players must register for the “2025 EXTRA Tryouts” Program through the parents AYSO Region 60 Account AND register their players interest using this form, AYSO Region 60 EXTRA Tryouts Form.

We will be having tryouts for birth years 2012 through 2017, for both boys and girls. 
Dates and times are subject to change. If there are not enough registered players for a specific year of birth 48 hours prior to the scheduled tryout, the tryout will be canceled.

Location:  Almansor Park, 800 S. Almansor Street, Alhambra

If your player has a conflict due to illness, injury, or an emergency, please reach out to us, and we’ll do our best to accommodate you. While we cannot guarantee adjustments, we will make every effort to assist in genuine emergencies. 
However, we kindly ask for your understanding that adjustments will not be made for non-emergency or unreasonable requests, as our goal is to serve the majority of families efficiently. We are committed to proceeding with fairness, transparency, and consistency for all players and families involved.

What to Wear and Bring:

  • Comfortable shorts and white shirt with NO MARKINGS ASSOCIATED WITH AN AYSO, EXTRA TEAM OR CLUB

  • Shin Guards, cleats, water and soccer ball (2014-2017= Size 4 and 2012-2013 size 5) 

EXTRA Evaluation Areas:

Technical
  • EVALUATION CRITERIA: players’ dribbling, passing and ball control abilities including: turning, balance and touch while dribbling; passing with accuracy, pace, timing; and controlling techniques using various surfaces while maintaining eye contact with the ball and ultimately preparing the ball for the next move.

Tactical
  • EVALUATION CRITERIA: players’ overall skills in developing tactical play including: field awareness; communication; leadership; awareness of organization and shape of play; ability to play on and off the ball; and ability to support, create options and make appropriate runs that support the attack or defense.

Functional  Attacking
  • EVALUATION CRITERIA:  players’ ability to maintain possession under pressure, create individual and team space, turn on a defender, recognize and take the direct route to goal; anticipation, preparation, decisiveness and timing when shooting.

Functional  Defending
  • EVALUATION  CRITERIA:  players’ defending control and balance, ability to establish appropriate marking distance, goal-side/ball-side position, ability to prevent an attacker from turning and tackling skills.
